Cassper Nyovest (born Refiloe Maele Phoolo in 1990 in the Mafikeng village of Montshiwa) is a South African producer and songwriter. He grew up participating in sports and academics, but at the age of 12, he discovered his passion for rapping.

Cassper Nyovest's passion for performing in front of large crowds began in primary school, where he would compete for a spot in every play and show. However, he dropped out of school at the age of 16 to pursue a career in music, and he floundered for a few years before being discovered by Motswako rapper HHP.

Nyovest spent the following few years touring abroad and opening for some of hip-biggest hop's names, all the while working on content for his debut solo album.

Tsholofelo, released in 2014, was such a smash hit in South Africa that a year later, an enlarged Platinum Edition with bonus tracks was issued to appease Nyovest's ravenous fan following.

Its his birthday today and as we take a look at some of his highlights from the previous years.

Exposed: Is Cassper Nyovest A Thief?

Cassper Nyovest's crossover from hip hop to Amapiano is undoubtedly one of his most successful career moves. But being a well-known name in the music industry as a whole doesn't justify stealing from other emerging artists, does it?

In 2021, the rapper turned Amapiano hit star released his much awaited Amapiano track, Angisho Guys. While his followers loved the song and danced to it over the weekend, some noticed some similarities between it and the song of popular Amapiano musician Mpura.

Apart from the fact that Mpura's song is also called 'Angisho Guys,' the chorus also seems to be familiar. Mpura published his version of the song in March 2021, and Cassper followed suit a month later.

Many people assumed Cassper stole the song because Mpura published it first, however Lady Du, an Amapiano vocalist and DJ, cleared the air.

Is Cassper Nyovest Jealous Of Focalistic?

It's a secret that no one can be everyone's favorite in Hip Hop, and Nota Baloyi isn't afraid to call out all the rappers he doesn't like. The "game," as some may refer to it, has been upended by incoming school students, requiring older rappers to keep up. Nota Baloyi hurled insults at Cassper Nyovest and Nasty C when he tried to make this point, and Cassper Nyovest took stray shots from him.

When it comes to South African music, Nota Baloyi is recognized for expressing his mind and voicing his ideas. He does come out as condescending, however, since he tries to bully anyone who doesn't share his viewpoints. You may see for yourself if you watched the MTV Base Hottest MC's of 2020.

Cassper Shades Kwesta's Ex Manager Nota

Following his "embarrassing" stint of falsely accusing Jay Z of selling Kanye West's masters in order to regain his own, Cassper Nyovest mocked Nhlamulo 'Nota' Baloyi. His "know-it-all" attitude placed him in the American Twitter timeline, where he was dragged along.

Nota got into an argument with an American music specialist with 22 years of experience. This came after he boasted about his 16 years in the music industry, claiming that no one should disagree with him since he'knows-it-all.' Despite the fact that he labels himself 'The Authority,' he was schooled today and became a laughingstock.

Cassper Angered By 'Fake News'

The rumored feud between DJ Sumbody and his friend Cassper Nyovest has heated up, but Cassper is completely unaware of it. At least, that's what he claims... According to City Press reports, Cassper owes Sumbody R150 000 in overdue royalties. The rapper, however, who claims that this is all fake news, is enraged by the 'clout chasing media.'

This is the second time Cassper has heard about it in the media, and he isn't impressed. He claims that the media utilizes his name to gain clout and sell newspapers since his name is constantly front and center.

"The deception continues!!! Lmao... what the hell are you talking about, man? Is it true that my name sells that many newspapers? That's the only explanation that makes sense, because amazing. Cassper, Cassper, Cassper, Cassper, Cassper, Cassper, Cassper, Cassper, Cassper, Ca What do you mean, you may write whatever you want as long as my name is on it!!! Lotlhe entlek la bora le marete!! Almal!!!"

Sumbody's spokesperson' made a comment in response to the City Press piece, confirming the alleged complaint. "This will also be duly pursued as the other side has reneged on a lot of the good faith agreements reached with them," Palesa Dwaba of Tailormade Legal Solutions said, as quoted by the publication.

Due to a request from Cassper's side that a negotiated settlement be achieved so that he would not lose his Samsung endorsement, the case was pulled from the roster a day before it was supposed to go to trial. His management signed the settlement agreement after this was agreed to, and then promptly ignored and violated it."

Cassper Nyovest Pays Lobola?

It's amazing to see that there are other parts of hip hop to be discovered, such as love.

Cassper Nyovest, a South African hip hop artist, is said to have paid lobola for his girlfriend, Thobeka Majozi. The award-winning rapper has plenty of reasons to stay in Durban longer.

According to the Isolezwe newspaper, the Doc Shebeleza hitmaker paid lobola for Thobeka, who lives in Durban's affluent suburb of La Lucia. However, the artist, on the other hand, has disputed these allegations.

Cassper said on Metro FM's Fresh Breakfast when asked if he's getting married: "Not anytime soon, I'm afraid. They say I took out lobola last week or something since I was in Durban in the papers."
